Originating from the restyling of the ‘palace de Versailles’ in 1690s France the Versailles style of parquet has been a mainstay in luxury flooring. Consisting of square centres and 45-degree lengths this grand flooring is the image of opulence.
At Drummond shaw design we have been hand crafting Versailles panels for over twenty years. We start by using our hand-selected 18th-century reclaimed oak. Boards are selected based on colour and character grade. We used traditional machines and techniques to hand-cut each panel piece, this results in every panel having an individual bespoke design including undulating surfaces and small gaps and cracks.
Specification
Panels are mounted onto hardwood marine plywood using the best German flexible adhesive and hidden nails. Plywood thickness can be altered to the required thickness. Our hand-cut reclaimed 18th-century finishes at between 8-12mm thick. Every panel piece is hand chiselled, filled, sanded and kiln-dried. Parquet De Versailles can be made using any of our reclaimed or new products.
